The Football Calendar for Sportsbook Affiliates
UCL nights, league run-ins, Copa América, World Cup years: football does not pay you evenly. A working calendar for when to publish, when to buy, and when to sit on your hands.

Football affiliates who plan in months get surprised by weeks. The fixture list already knows what people will search. Your job is to be indexed before that week starts, and to have a deal that survives the weeks when nothing is on.
This is the European-shaped year with the global tournaments laid on top. Local sports that convert is the reminder that football is not the answer in every GEO. The sportsbook playbook is the rest of the map. Here is the clock.
The domestic spine, August to May
Big European leagues run late August to May. The content that compounds is not "Arsenal vs Spurs odds" on the Friday. That page is dead by Sunday. The content that compounds is the explainer you will reuse every season: how a league's accumulator settles, what a book means by minimum odds, which markets actually qualify.
The perishable layer sits on top: previews, prices, a Saturday live page. Publish on a fixture rhythm or do not bother. Prematch versus in-play is which landing to use on matchday.
South America runs the other way. Brasileirao is April to December. If you already have a European book, your quiet summer is their peak. That is a feature if you planned it, and a hole if you did not.
Midweek is a product
Champions League nights (and the European nights that share the calendar) are why a Tuesday or Wednesday can out-earn a weekend in the right GEO. They are also why a CPA-only book looks like a genius in April and a fool in June.
Treat UCL as a separate content series, not as "more football". The audience is overlapping but the search is specific, the prices are specific, and the in-play window is a school night.

Tournaments that rewrite the year
A World Cup or a Euros is not a bigger league. It is a month when people who do not bet on football will bet on football, and when every unprepared affiliate publishes the same preview.
If you want that traffic, the pages have to exist before the group stage. Writing them in week two is how you compete with everyone who had the same thought.
Copa América, AFCON, Asian Cup: same shape, different GEO, often less competition in English and more in the right language. Pick the tournament whose audience you can actually reach.
A summer with no major tournament is the test of your model. Pure CPA on European football in that July is a holiday. RevShare on players you already sent is a dip. NGR and negative carryover decides whether a wild knockout week follows you into August.
What to stop doing
Buying paid traffic in May as if June were May.
Ranking a "World Cup 2026 odds" page and expecting it to pay in 2027. Tournament domains die. The explainer about how tournament accumulators settle does not.
Sending in-play traffic at a landing that still wants a full registration on a UCL night. You will buy clicks and log noise.
On AFFILIFY, sportsbook rates sit in the deal, per brand and GEO, in USD. There is no faster payout because it is a final. Pending still clears on the 15th. Plan cashflow on the calendar, not on the trophy.
Frequently asked questions
When should I start World Cup content?
Before qualifying ends, for the evergreen pieces (how tournament bets settle, what a book means by 90 minutes). The perishable odds pages wait until squads and prices exist. Starting both in week one of the group stage is how you join a crowd.
Is Champions League worth a separate site?
Almost never. It is worth a separate series on a site that already has a league spine. A UCL-only property goes dark in June and has to justify itself every September.
How do I survive a summer with no tournament?
RevShare on the players already in the book, a counter-seasonal GEO or sport, or a casino brand for the dead weeks. Decide in March. Deciding in June is a crisis.
Does the calendar change my commission model?
It changes how a model feels. CPA harvests the spikes and starves in the gaps. RevShare smooths the gaps and shares the wild knockout weeks, including the bad ones if negative carryover is on. Read the deal against the year, not against one Saturday.

Prematch vs In-Play Conversion: Which Landing, When
A prematch click has hours and a comparison tab open. An in-play click has seconds and a price that is already moving. Sending both to the same landing is how sportsbook affiliates buy traffic that looks fine in the report and produces no qualifying bets.

Local Sports That Convert: The One They Already Argue About
Football is the world's biggest sport, and in several large betting markets it is not the one people follow closely enough to stake on. A market-by-market map of the sports that carry each country, when their seasons run, where the law actually lets you promote a book, and why translation is not localization.

A bettor arrives with an opinion and a deadline; a casino player arrives with a mood. That single difference rewrites your publishing rhythm, your cashflow, your traffic channels and the way your CPA qualifies. Here is the whole map.
